ANNE SAVAGE, Executive Director

Anne Savage is an experienced leader who uses her management and technical skills to help not-for-profit organizations become more efficient and effective. Her work in comprehensive planning with River Street Planning & Development informs her commitment to urban environments and bicycle and pedestrian advocacy.

Anne also coordinates the Upper Madison Street Fair, a bike-friendly annual festival of fun held each fall in Albany and serves on the City School District of Albany Board of Education where she advocates for equitable education for each and every student in Albany and throughout New York.

MARK HOFFACKER, Director of Bicycle Education

Mark Hoffacker has been involved in the field of traffic safety and injury prevention for the past twenty years; at both St. Mary’s Hospital for Children and the New York Coalition for Transportation Safety. He has helped to organize two Long Island Walk/Bike Summits, has led numerous bike rodeos and parades in the downstate area and years ago, served as a VISTA volunteer in South Carolina.

ED BRENNAN, Assistant Director of Bicycle Education

Ed Brennan is the current President of the Albany Bicycle Coalition. He has helped organize numerous group rides in the Capital Region including annual Earth Day Rides and Rides of Silence for Cyclists that Have Been Killed or Seriously Injured. He was a long-time bike commuter. He has been a network engineer and a law librarian. Since his retirement he has been able to devote more time to bike touring around the US.

Leah Golby became an advocate for people who use active forms of transportation when she stopped driving a car regularly in 2007. It didn't take long for her to realize that land use patterns worked against the most vulnerable road users. In 2009, Leah got her first new bike since she was a teenager from the local bike rescue, and became an around-town bicyclist. She served on the Albany Common Council from 2010-2017, where she ushered in the city's 2013 Complete Streets ordinance, and sponsored the city's annual "May is Bike Month" Resolution.

Chris Joinnides Pic


Chris Joinnides, owner of Kreb Cycle, is a proud supporter and member of the NYBC board and executive committee. He has been a USA cycling member since 1982. Chris has multiple Empire State games and State Championship medals. While at SUNY Stony Brook he rode on the ECAC Championship cycling team. He promotes and officiates about 15 road and cyclocross races a year. Chris recently passed the Level 3 Coaching exam for USA cycling. He enjoys giving new riders an opportunity to experience this great sport at work and in his time off too. Joining the board of the NYBC is just one of the many ways Chris Joinnides supports the cycling community on Long Island.

Daniel Flanzig is an accomplished Trial Lawyer representing the rights of cyclists and pedestrians in New York. He is also an avid cyclist, runner, and competitive du-athlete. He is the author of "Wheels of Justice" a monthly column published by the Coalition offering legal advice for cyclists across New York State. Daniel has developed a free monthly class in conjunction with Bike New York, and also serves on the Boards of Long Island Streets-NY, New York Coalition for Transportation Safety. Daniel represents the interests of cyclists and pedestrians at the Nassau County Traffic and Safety Board and is also the Chair of the Village of Sea Cliff Traffic and Safety Committee.

Rich Conroy has been the Director of Education since starting at Bike New York in 2004. He has a masters and doctorate from University of Notre Dame, and his bike industry experience includes working for Metro Bicycles and teaching middle school kids for Recycle-A-Bicycle. In addition to being a League Cycling Instructor (LCI), he’s an LCI coach for the League of American Bicyclists. He has a brilliant, wonderful teenage daughter and three cats who are nice, but not so brilliant.

Ben Rabin joined the NYBC Board in 2023. Ben is an accomplished trial lawyer with particular experience in handling bicycle accidents. Ben is also an avid bike rider. He regularly races on the road, in the snow, and in the mud. He’s competed in triathlons, including Ironman Lake Placid. Ben is an active member of the cycling and legal communities, currently serving on the board of his bike racing team, "The Salty Chimps," and has served on the Board of Directors for the Onondaga Cycling Club and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.

Tom Knipe is an economic developer, planner and adjunct professor in Ithaca, NY. He co-founded Bike Walk Tompkins and the annual Streets Alive Ithaca open streets event, and formerly served as Executive Director of the Community Cycling Center and Director of Development for a successful private bike event company in Portland, Oregon. He is also an expert in tourism development and management, having served as director of the Tompkins County Tourism Program for seven years. He rides his Xtracycle cargo bike to work and enjoys exploring the Finger Lakes via road or gravel bike on the weekends and competing in the occasional trail ultra or triathlon.
