Smart Cycling (Full) This 9 hour, in-depth class, covers all of the major aspects of bicycling safely on the streets. With 3 hours of classroom discussion, 4 hours of bicycle handling drills, and a group ride, this League of American Bicyclists class is the nationally recognized standard for bicycle safety education. Students will learn basic handling skills as well as advance crash avoidance maneuvers including “Instant Turns”, “The Rock Dodge”, and “Instant Stop”. Smart Cycling is a graded course and is a prerequisite for becoming a League Cycling Instructor.

Smart Cycling (Redux) A shortened version of the full Smart Cycling class, this program is focused on the novice rider. Walk Safe, Bike Safe Using traffic safety terms and concepts, this program of physical games and races is designed for children in grades 3 - 5.  The curriculum contains nine 20-minute modules and can be done indoors or out. NYBC can demonstrate the program, or provide train-the-trainer services.  No bicycles are required for this program.

Afterschool Bike Clubs NYBC can assist in the development and operation of afterschool programs for children in grades 4 - 8.  These programs require acquiring bicycles and a commitment from a school or afterschool service provider.

Summer Bike Camps Teaming with municipal recreation programs or other youth camps, NYBC can develop a program using components of Walk Safe, Bike Safe, and our other offerings to include a bike safety element in existing camp programs.
