  • Education and Program Development - set up a bike program; training educators; bike commuter training courses for employers; includes curriculum development and teacher training
  • Bicycle Amenities Build-Out - Providing properly designed and contextually appropriate facilities, on and off road, for bicyclists to ride upon is only part of the challenge of attracting and keeping bike tourists happy and returning.  NYBC has an extensive network of grassroots contacts with whom to work to identify everything from unique cultural, historic, natural, and culinary assets to logistical basics such as where to find water, fix a flat, or lock up your bicycle.
  • Bicycle-Friendly Community Assessment - NYBC is the New York State resource for obtaining bicycle-friendly Community (BFC) Designation with the League of American Bicyclists (LAB).  NYBC conducts objective community assessments based on LAB's framework to establish a baseline for BFC recognition;  We will also work with planners and decision-makers in your community to set achievable goals and unique place-based strategies for achieving desired levels of designation.
  • Bike Route Planning & Design - NYBC's planning team are planners and cyclists, allowing us to combine our technical expertise with intuitive knowledge of bicycling behavior.  Our team is fully versed in a wide variety of on and off-street infrastructure treatments the enhance safety for cyclists and other street users.
  • Bicycle & Transit Integration - NYBC Expert Assistance is the industry leader in connecting bicycles with transit systems.  Our Principal planner, Dan Suraci, spent two years working with the American Public Transportation Association and 30 transit agencies and advocacy groups from across the country to develop a national best practices guide for bicycle integration and equitable mobility.  Whether agencies are just getting started or trying to take their bicycle programs to the next level, NYBC can provide unparalleled guidance on bicycle parking at transit stations, bikes onboard transit, bike share integration, safe routes to transit, demand management, and customer communication.     
  • Cycling Strategy Master Planning - NYBC has worked with communities across the state to develop comprehensive strategies to enhance bicycle tourism and help communities leverage their bicycle assets to drive economic development.  The 2018 Great South Woods project is an example of NYBC’s unique approach to identifying local and regional assets and opportunities then packaging the information to inform a step by step approach to building out and sustaining local and regional bike based tourism.
  • Community Visioning & Stakeholder engagement - The NYBC consultant team are expert conveners with grassroots connections with bicycle clubs, shops, and stakeholders throughout the country.   
  • Planning for shared-use paths on bridges -  As a large and old state New York is blessed with a plethora of bridges, large and small, and many are in dire need of much more than routine maintenance.  Bridges connect the growing network of on and off-road bicycling trails and networks and NYBC can assist communities, public and private agencies, and concerned residents to make sure that as these important assets are addressed and prioritized as important public work projects that whenever possible bridges are “complete” in the sense of providing cyclists, hikers and walkers the opportunities for a safe and smooth transition between on and off road assets.
  • Active Transportation Policy Development - Public Policy sets the tone for how bicycling is prioritized in a community.  NYBC understands the benefits and challenges of changing policy to accommodate bikes.  The NYBC team has experience working with policy-makers throughout NYS to make informed decisions about bikes in their communities.  
  • Complete Streets Training - NYBC developed NYS's official training course on complete streets and active transportation and for public officials and municipal planning boards.  Our expert team is fully trained to provide contextualized guidance on complete streets strategies.
