The 2018 New York State Bike Summit is September 27-29

 

The 2018 New York Bike Summit is the premier NYS event for sharing ideas and insights on advancing bicycling across the Empire State. Sessions include updates on the 750 mile Empire State Trail, the new Shared Use Path on the Mario M. Cuomo Tappan Zee Bridge, e-bikes, bike share, mountain biking, and bicycle tourism. Hear advocates' concerns about autonomous vehicles, why public health officials are bullish on our bicycling future, and learn about ongoing
outreach efforts to women and minorities.

The format and venue encourages networking and idea exchanges with the 300 planners, policy-makers, advocates, educators, public officials, and cyclists who are building a bicycle-friendly future in New York State. The cost to attend the Summit is only $75. Register today!

Thursday, 9/27: New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) training and evening welcome events
Friday, 9/28: Full day of Bike Summit panels, workshops, and networking, including mobile workshops in the community. gourmet lunch buffet and late afternoon Award ceremony and Local artisan beer reception.
Saturday, 9/29: guided rides with the local bike clubs. Also, a refresher course for LAB League Certified Instructors (LCI)
This year's theme is Bike Education: Beyond Rules of the Road. At this year's Summit NYBC will introduce education as a dynamic tool for empowering bicycle success among advocates, educators, planners, everyday bicyclists, bike tourism interests, along with representatives from government, green groups and the business community. Our exciting schedule of round tables, workshops, and panels will highlight the best practices and emerging trends from across the Empire State.

Ride On! (at the NYS Bike Summit)
The 2018 Bike Summit isn't all talk. Bring your bicycle and join us for these fun pre- and post- Summit rides.

Bikes & Beer: On Thursday night 9/27, NYBC invites attendees for a scenic ride through Saratoga. We'll ride from the Summit venue at the Gideon Putnam Hotel through downtown Saratoga and finish at a local brewery.

Saratoga Greenbelt Trail Tour: On Saturday 9/29, join the Saratoga Greenbelt Committee for a guided two-wheeled 20 mile tour of the city’s premier bike path project. Expert ride leaders will provide first-hand knowledge of the plan to create a figure-eight loop around and through the city with a mix of multi-use pathway and on-street treatments that residents and visitors alike can use for both transportation and recreation.

Cycle Adirondacks Harvester Ride: After the Summit, take a two day tour (Sat/Sun, September 29-30) of the pastoral agricultural landscape and rich history of Fulton County, the Mohawk Valley, and southern Adirondacks. Ride starts in Johnstown, NY, a short drive from Saratoga. Register for both the New York State Bike Summit and the Harvester Ride and receive a special gift from Cycle Adirondacks.
