NYBC works for better infrastructure and stronger laws, because we support everyone who walks or rides - kids on their way to school, athletes burning up the miles, tourists exploring New York’s scenic trails, delivery people earning a living, commuters on their way to work - and every other kind of walker or biker in New York.

There are many ways to help!  Here are some of the ways you can support our work - both financially and with gifts of time and energy.

One Time and Monthly giving

Unrestricted gifts from individuals are the backbone of NYBC. You can make a one-time or monthly donation by credit card on our Individual Donation Page or paper check to NYBC at PO Box 8868, Albany, NY 12208.

We encourage you to consider making a monthly recurring donation - even small monthly donations of $10 or $25 really add up and give us the fiscal stability we need to work for you. You can use our Individual Donation Page to make a recurring donation by credit card, or if you prefer, your bank's online bill pay system will allow you to make recurring contributions by check to: NYBC at PO Box 8868, Albany, NY 12208.

A gift of any level makes your household a member for one year!

Bike Club Gifts

If your bike club or advocacy organization has a giving program, consider supporting NYBC. Bike clubs and cycling advocacy organizations from across the state support NYBC because they know that our mission is to support and unite the movement for safe, fun, and accessible cycling and walking for every New Yorker - we can do more when we speak together!

Donations from organizations can be made through our Organizational Giving Page. If your program requires an application, you can share the information with us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Many bike clubs and advocacy organizations also choose to join the NYS Safe Streets Coalition. Membership is free, and having many voices working together strengthens our movement for a safer New York.

A gift of at least $100 makes your organization a member of NYBC for one year. We encourage larger organizations to support NYBC at the levels shown on our Organizational Giving Page.

Employer Matching donations
Many employers match tax-deductible donations made by employees, retirees, and spouses. Ask your Human Resources representative if your company will match your gift to NYBC. We are a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 11-2999677) and happy to provide any information your HR department may need - just email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. NYS State Employee Federated Appeal
The NYS SEFA allows NYS employees to donate via payroll deduction to a set of pre-approved charities including NYBC.  If you are a NYS Employee look for us in your SEFA donation package - our SEFA charity code is 999-02604

Qualified Charitable Distributions from your IRA
If you are 70½ or older your IRA could be a tax-smart way to support NYBC. If you’re taking required minimum distributions (RMDs), you can give part or all of your RMD tax-free through a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). It’s a smart way to make an impact while lowering your taxable income. Ask your financial advisor or plan administrator how to initiate a QCD.

Planned Giving
Planned giving through your will, trust, or estate plan is one of the most meaningful ways to support NYBC. Whether you're updating your will or starting your estate planning, please consider a gift to NYBC, and talk to your financial advisor or estate planner.

NON-Financial ways to help

While financial support is essential to sustain our work, your time, energy, and advocacy are just as powerful. There are many ways to help NYBC beyond writing a check. You can share your skills, connect us with your community, and amplify our message to create safer, more accessible streets for everyone. Every action - big or small - strengthens the movement for cycling and walking in New York and helps us achieve lasting change.

  • In-kind gifts: Donate items or services that can help NYBC operate more effectively.  We can always use new, high-end bicycles and equipment to use as gifts and raffles.  If you have used bikes but still useful bikes, please consider donating them to your local bike rescue  - we maintain a list of all the bike rescues in NYS here

  • Follow, like, and share: Engage with NYBC on social media to help spread the word about our work and events. We are most active on Facebook and Instagram

  • Join us in Albany or Washington: Attend events, rallies, or advocacy days to make your voice heard.  Find dates and information about our NYS Safe Streets Coalition Days of Action here. Those events are free and usually include lunch, training, and bus transportation from NYC.  Also consider joining us at the National Bike Summit in DC either in person or virtually

  • Contact legislators: Advocate for safer streets and better cycling infrastructure by reaching out to your local, state, or federal representatives.  We highlight key campaigns on our initiatives page.

  • Volunteer: Contribute your time and skills to help us advance cycling and walking across New York, and build a stronger NYBC. Whatever your professional background, consider volunteering your services. Contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

  • Subscribe: Keep in touch with us and find out about our work by subscribing to our roughly monthly newsletter at the subscribe page.
  • Work with us! Check out our employment page for opportunities. We are often looking for part-time, fully remote, flexible schedule employees who are excited to help make NY safer - is that you?
